Olympics... Therapy... Firefest

Happy Monday!

Wow, wow, wow!
There have been so many amazing, exciting, nerve-wracking moments during the Olympics and I am officially addicted to watching these games. However, I'm running into a problem. I can't decide if I want to know the outcome of an event prior to watching it on tv. Prime examples during the last two days involve Iowa's own Lolo Jones and Shawn Johnson. Both competed during the early morning hours (Iowa time) and those competitions didn't air on NBC until that night. I'm so torn! I'd love to be in suspense while watching, but I can't stand being in the dark. For instance this morning when I got done teaching my step class at the Y, I saw Kevin Cooney. The first thing he said is, "Did you hear about Lolo?!?" I told him I hadn't and then he asked if I wanted to know or if I wanted to find out tonight. I squirmed for a few moments and then said, "Tell me!" I have no willpower and no patience. How are you guys handling those moments?

I had a pretty productive weekend and it feels great to check some things off the ever-expanding to do list. Michael and I spent quite a bit of time in the yard, which was long overdue. I have managed to kill just about everything in our yard except the hardiest of plants so there was a lot of trimming and picking up to do. I've decided that some of the best therapy on the planet is cleaning (second only to working out). My house and yard are now fairly neat and clean and I started today with a good session at the gym so it's a good day so far!

If you're looking for something to do this weekend that's fun and for a good cause .... join us at Des Moines Fire Fest on Saturday. A bunch of us are taking part in the water fights (should be interesting) and there will be everything from a 5k that morning, to live music at night. Check out this link for more information http://www.dmfirefest.com/

It's time for me to start looking over scripts for the early shows ... have a great week everyone!

Erin,

I totally have to say I'm up for knowing as soon as the event happens. I woke up at 4:30 am this morning and couldn't sleep I was so EXCITED for Shawn Johnson I just had a good feeling, when I saw she got gold, I totally started cheering for her! I was so excited for her! LoLo put up a great performance in the Olympics. There both champions in my eyes!

Congratulations!

It's so hard to believe that the Olympics are almost over! It was even more exciting this time around with Shawn and Lolo. I'm an Olympic junkie - slap Olympic rings on it and play a few notes of the NBC "Olympic" music and I'm hooked - but with all the coverage on various channels it was extremely difficult to pick what to watch. Not to mention all the online streaming video available. I didn't even bother with any of that, no time. WHO-TV's coverage has been great too, and I really like the new commercial you guys have been running that shows the history of the station. Do you happen to know offhand the name and artist of the song that plays near the end of it?

Hi ladies!
I'm so glad you like the promo that's been running during the Olympics ... it's cool, huh?!? Big thanks to Kevin Rivers in the Channel 13 promotions department - it's his creation. Kevin tells me the music info is on our website and he sent me this link to pass on to you.

OK, that link did not post. Sorry.
Here is the info from whotv.com

Our "Tomorrow" promo is also generating a lot of interest from people wanting to know more about the music, the title and artists, and how they can download it.

The band, based in Columbus, OH, is called Alamouth Lane. The name of the song is called "Carousels." The band's website is http://www.alamothlane.com/ where you can watch the "Carousels" music video and get more information about the band.

I love the "Tomorrow" promo. Any possibility of seeing more vintage WHO13 clips?

I know KCCI (am I allowed to say that on this blog?) has a huge number of classic clips on YouTube.
